The Big Horn 100

Hannah Pruss and Kourageous Hope (Stuart) won and BC’d at this year’s Big Horn 100, considered one of endurance riding's "bucket list" rides. The ride is held each summer in Wyoming's Big Horn Mountains and requires fearlessness, attention to details and a great deal of preparation for both horse and rider. Although this would be my fourth Big Horn 100 and I knew the trail and had a fit horse, I had some concerns about how my horse would do.
Stuart lost his left eye to sarcoid cancer last fall after Tevis and this would be the first time I rode him in the dark since the surgery.
At the start he did great, except for headlamps casting shadows that made grass piles look like horse-eating
