As the competition came to a close, and the awesome volunteers echoed “Break down the course and collect arrows”, aromas of the feast that awaited us filled the cool mountain air.
As we feasted on Hungarian specialties, and delicious salmon caught fresh from the river 10 feet away, dinner drew to a close. Robert arose from his table, and gave out awards. He congratulated and thanked everyone, proudly letting them know this event involved a total of six Provinces from every corner of Canada who competed. History was made this weekend.
A huge bonfire crackling while red hot embers floated into the night ended our evening. Our camaraderie was strengthened with dancing and laughing as we drummed and chanted under the starlit sky. I was reminded why I loved this sport and community
once again.
