Magadelan Luna Regados came to support her friend and founder of Borsos Torzs Horse Archery Club, Robert Borsos. She practices myofacial release in Whistler, Canada; with an interest in equine myofacial technique. She shared with me as we watched a run of horses thunder past, “I wanted to see the athletic and spiritual bond between horse and rider in this unique sport.”

Lance Bishop of Nova Scotia and a member of the new club there called the Seawinds Horse Archers, was smiling ear to ear as he watched and cheered on fellow competitors. "This is my first time to Canada’s West Coast. Being here with some of the best horseback archers in North America, the majestic mountains and snaking river, it is a magical, unforgettable experience and an extreme honor!”

Watching his two daughters Maya and Winona compete, Alvin Nelson from the Lil’Wat tribe, and whose land the competition grounds are on, introduced me to a family friend, Hubert “Huby” Jim. Huby rarely comes down from the mountain he has been protecting for the past 19 years, so this was a special occasion for them. "Huby is protecting our lands and water from further gentrification and exploitation from corporations and government against our peoples will, and to preserve a feeling of conscience and compassion for the water, air, wildlife, and the Earth here in Lil'wat St'at'imx territory.” As I looked around me I could understand and respect what they are fighting for.
