Once again I’m fortunate enough to
be able to film for my feature
documentary, Horseback Archery
“From War to Sport" at the Borsos
Torzs Horse Archery Club in Mount
Currie B.C, Canada. Driving from
Vancouver was a breathtaking
journey; snow covered mountains,
lakes and islands, waterfalls and
forests. I knew I was in for a specular
adventure.
After being warmly greeted by the
Nelson family and tucked away in
their cute guest quarters next to the
picturesque mountains, the
sounds of forest filled the evening
air. I closed my eyes and drifted off
to sleep knowing the next day was
going to be pretty intense.
The next morning, a thick mist
hugged the mountain tops and a
light drizzle of rain softly fell. The
spirit of the competition grew as
warm introductions of new
competitors intertwined with hugs
from old friends. I made my way to
the the scoring tent with camera
gear in tow excited to capture the
horses and riders as they flashed by,
arrows ablaze. The crowds were
able to witness and cheer on
competitors, including a black bear
up in the hills that stopped to
curiously watch, perhaps unsure if
he was a target or spectator.
