I had a terrific time at the Grand opening of the Extreme Trail Horse Association’s newest park, Dry Creek Barn in Bellville Texas. Joe and Jan Burson along with their team had their park looking great. So many innovative obstacles and such a friendly and welcoming environment. They had many of the obstacles under some amazing big beautiful shade trees with the end of the course cascading out to a large water pond.
The course was laid out beautifully, easy to follow and with plenty of room not to feel crowded. There was plenty of help if needed on the course from Joe and Jan along with family and volunteers. They also have a trail that you can ride along the creek. With the smiles of the riders you could see the fun they were having.
Dry Creek Barn’s head trainer, Ashlin Johnson, was riding a rescue horse named Pearl. She was riding the course and interacting with the riders. She was there to assist if need and explain the course. Another feature of Dry Creek Barn is that they board and train horses on site. If you want to come to the park and have some lessons and you do not have a horse, no problem. They have horses you can use to take lessons on and ride the course.
From the time you arrive at the park you will be greeted and shown were to park and where to sign up. There is always someone to help you and insure that you have a terrific time. When you complete your ride, Dry Creek Barn had great food, music and a complete ETHA merchandise table. The merchandise is a great way to remember your time at the park as you plan your next ride and visit.
Dry Creek Barn is a complete equine facility with some of the nicest, hardworking people in the industry. When you are there remember to ask to see the smiling horse. He smiles on command. I was accompanied on my trip to Dry Creek with my sister D’Ann Johns, Heather Welch, the office Director with the ETHA and her daughter Katelyn. Katelyn is 11 years old and rode two different horses and completed some obstacles. We have talked about Joe and Jan’s Dry Creek Park since we left. We made a great memory and can’t wait to go back.
