Each year $31 000 000 000 of food is wasted in Canada. About 47% of food is wasted because of consumers. This is because people throw away their food because they lose interest. This may also be caused by high expectations and the food being not good enough, expirations,etc. 30% of fruits and vegetables are not for sale because of the appearance.
So this is the issue that I chose to write about to inform those about how serious this issue is. Not only are people not getting fed but we are also wasting alot of food.
For my Hunger issue I desided to donate food to winnipeg harvest to help hungry people in Canada. It may not be allot but if more people are awair even 1 donation a week can make an enormous difference. I also did the same thing for my "Pay it Forward" which is on page 11. I chose to do the same thing twice because donating food is better than leaving them to expire and throwing them, wheras a person suffering hunger can use it just to get through their day.
