Agassiz School
The first Agassiz School was built in 1892 , and then torn down , making way for a newer version on East Williams Street in 1941 . Agassiz served as an elementary school until 2013 , and was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020 . Since its closing , the building and property have been rezoned for potential residential development .

Central Catholic High School
The all-boys school on East Fourth Street was in operation between 1935-53 , when more room was needed to accommodate students from three Catholic parishes . A new high school opened on Chester Avenue in 1953 , and a name change gave birth to Walsh Catholic High School .
