JESUS

My name is Jesus Arambula, and I'm 23 years old. I was born in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico and I have lived in San Francisco for seven years. I graduated from City College of San Francisco in 2020 with 4 associates and a certificate of completion, and I am currently attending San Francisco State University majoring in computer science. I spent most of my childhood keeping things to myself since I didn't want to bother anyone. Ever since I got my PS2 as a little kid I've been playing games everyday, and started learning how to code because of it. I recently started taking classes that don't even relate to my major, like Japanese cause I think it's pretty fun. My friends think I'm pretty cool, but I don't really see it.

I have two lovely cats who love to annoy me when I’m asleep. I'm not too fond of reading, and hands-on experience is usually more enjoyable for me. I like to be alone because I think and work better that way, but if you want me to work with you on a project, then sure what the hell. Before the pandemic, my friend and I used to play in a jazz band at a family bar every month. We didn't get paid, but the tips aren't too bad. (Also we had free burgers)

If I had to pick a role model in my life I would pick my dad, cause he's pretty badass and he made it through his childhood without Google. My dad also got into the United States, so I wouldn't be here without him.

Working in YouthLine improved my ability to communicate effectively with everyone else in the office. We do independent work but we also have to come together and collaborate,

bringing in new ideas to the table, and I think that’s what makes YouthLINE work so efficiently. Working with others also helped me be more open with myself and gave me the confidence to explore new topics that I didn’t know I was going to grow a liking for. Overall, my experience in YouthLINE so far has been amazing, being able to work with so many people with different backgrounds, I learn a lot everyday from them and hope to get to know them better later down the line.
