who are bravely wearing their
cars
In our culture of “perfection”, many women spend time and energy covering
up their scars, physical and emotional, rather than wearing them bravely.
Think about it. Outside of Breast Cancer Awareness, when can you think of
ads or shows on TV depicting someone facing their own personal battle with
courage? We see bald heads and pictures in magazines of women with scars
where breasts once were. We know those women.
AND we know women who are battling other chronic conditions like
Fibromyalgia, Infertility, Anxiety or Depression, or autoimmunes on a daily
basis. And still rocking their careers and living life to their best ability.
In our own day to day lives, we likely don’t have to look too far to find a
woman who embodies strength and courage. She lives her life fully,
embracing each moment she gets.

Holly Wade Wellness, Crohn’s Disease
A
round the year 2000, I started showing symptoms of Crohn’s
Disease. My mom knew it. She noticed my absolute fatigue
and weight fluctuations. She had seen my dad go through
these same symptoms in his early 20’s. I was in my mid-20’s and a
fitness professional. In my mind, I was supposed to be the epitome
of “health”. This wasn’t a part of my plan.
After seeing three Specialists who never actually took a look inside of
me, I was convinced that I was depressed and that it wasn’t Crohn’s.
If I’m completely honest, I had an idea of what a diagnosis of Crohn’s
meant: hospital stays, no vacations, walking into a store or restau-
rant and immediately seeking out where the bathroom is located, fa-
tigue, moodiness, and questioning if I could REALLY live my dreams.
