Karen A. Thomas passion for etiquette and civility began years ago
when my children were just toddlers. I was adamant about raising
respectful and mannerly children. At the time I was a partner in the family
waste hauling business, a multi-million dollar venture, but seeking to branch
out to another venture for myself- away from the garbage industry.

y son was 7 and constantly asking to answer the phones (before the cell
phone surgence) when landlines were still the home phone I told him he
was able to do so when he could answer politely and was able to commu-
nicate a message correctly. So many people commented on how polite
my son was not only on the phone but in person as well so much so that I
often received requests to “teach” others kids manners. And a business was
I researched etiquette programs, flew to CA and studied under Sue Fox of Etiquette Survival,
completed the course requisites and became Certified as an etiquette educator for children
business and adults.
After speaking and teaching pro bono for several years to gain experience and credibility,
I began to find that there was a crucial need for etiquette not only with children but young
adults as well and started Karen Thomas Etiquette in 2001.
For the past 17 years and enduring divorce, homelessness, financial ruin and an amazing res-
urrection, I enjoy a fantastic career in Etiquette Known as the CT Etiquette Expert, I have
built a solid foundation for people to follow, through civility, business acumen and decorum.
Through self perseverance and savvy marketing techniques, I have single handedly built a
successful TV, radio, speaking and teaching career that allows me the freedom to spread civility
to others.
I have been blessed to be able to pursue and achieve success through hard work and
unending support from family and friends.
