- BOLD & BEAUTIFUL -
Entrepreneurs
Shequita Lee
Did you ever get to a point in life where you are tired of doing the same ole
thing? Well that was me. Back in 2006, I made the decision that I would
move out of Connecticut and experience being a newbie in a new state.

a
n 2008 this Divorced Mom of two,
decided to move to Richmond, Vir-
ginia. Moving out of my home state,
was way out of comfort zone, but it
was totally what I needed. Being in
a new state, helped me to start do-
ing different things.
Since I love to read, I started looking for lo-
cal book clubs to connect with. Beside book
clubs, I also connected with a local women’s
group. Connecting with those women, was
eye opening to me. They helped me to see
that being an entrepreneur was totally do-
able, not something I needed to wait for.
In 2013, after organizing a networking
group, I decided to start a business. There
was one problem, I was only a resident of
Virginia for 5 year. Yes, I networked a lot,
but I knew that I needed market and pro-
mote my business so that it can flourish and
grow. By doing this, I started doing uncon-
ventional methods and reaching out to peo-
ple and marketing my business on various
platforms. I started to grow my team through
these methods and pretty soon, I was teach-
ing others how to get market and promote
their business. It seems like I was starting to
teach people and lot more, it occurred to me
that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A great opportunity came to me in 2015, to

be a part of a big book collaboration that kept
growing to over 100 women. After praying
over this opportunity, I decided to go for it.
Deciding to take advantage of this opportu-
nity opened so many doors for me, because
I was willing to push past that opening of the
door. Of course any great opportunity to is
going to require work on your end, so that is
exactly what I did. I went to work. This big
collaboration ended up being my first oppor-
tunity to become an Author. I didn’t know
what would become of this, but I still hit the
ground running, making sure all of my social
media outlets knew or had some posting that
I was about to publish a book. I started Live
Streaming, doing Radio & Podcast interviews,
started posting flyers and graphics. Because
of this big collaboration, I was able to become
a #1 Best Seller due to being a Co-Author in
this book. My first opportunity to speak and
many more firsts.
Since my first business, I have been helping
others market and promote their business on
Social Media, as well as getting out and net-
working. Looking back at those opportunities
that I took advantage of, truly helped me to
see what it is that I love doing, #1 teaching
people. My college degree isn’t in Education,
it is in Business Management. But it seems to
be what I am drawn to now more than ever.
