In the last five years , Tokyo Disney Resort has become an increasingly popular destination for overseas Disney fans . Even though Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001 and Tokyo Disneyland in 1983 , Japan ’ s beautiful parks have become more accessible in recent years because of social media , blogs , and vlogs .

As someone who has lived in Japan for over eight years , I have one place in the heart of Tokyo DisneySea that I always recommend to experience the brilliance of Imagineering : Magellan ’ s . This magnificent Table-Service restaurant at Tokyo DisneySea is one of Disney ’ s best .
PART OF THE S . E . A . LORE The story of Magellan ’ s is a chapter in the much larger saga of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers , aka S . E . A . Magellan ’ s serves as a meeting place for members within Fortress Explorations . Legend has it that Magellan ’ s opened in the mid-1500s and is named after the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan .
Of course , the Society of Explorers and Adventurers is a fictional organization that originates from the Fortress Explorations walk-through attraction at the base of Mount Prometheus . S . E . A . now exists at Disney Parks and on Disney Cruises around the world — including at the Tower of Terror in the American Waterfront at Tokyo DisneySea .
You can read more about S . E . A . in our August 2020 issue .
UNDERSTATED FROM THE OUTSIDE While walking around Tokyo DisneySea , it ’ s easy to pass by Magellan ’ s without knowing it was there . The restaurant and lounge are built right into Fortress Explorations . This “ secret ” location adds to the unmatched allure of Magellan ’ s .
Don ’ t miss out on Fortress Explorations before or after your meal at Magellan ’ s . There ’ s no wait , and you ’ re able to soak in all the details .
