magazine . There ’ s image and copy placement , text styling , color selection , and adding special patterns or graphics to enhance the content . See the image on the next page for the anatomy of an example page in the magazine .
Erica steps in to write content for all the little things like “ Fun Fact ” or “ Snack Attack ” you see through the issue , once we know where we have room for them . We add captions and look for ways we can “ plus ” each issue with things like hidden Mickeys througout the design , special downloads , or even bonus content we can create to add some extra value to the issue .
Next up , it ’ s time for many more rounds of proofing with different members of our team , and once all the revisions are done and checked , we can upload the print edition files to our printing partner to produce and ship .
The story doesn ’ t end there because we have to go though a second layout and proofing process to prepare the digital edition , which is a different size page and font , plus has extra articles and videos added in .
When that is done , we upload the digital edition to our web and app software , test for bugs , and then finally launch the issue . Meanwhile , our sales and social media teams are building hype for the new issue so existing subscribers and new customers know which issue they are getting and when .
ONCE UPON A TIME Walt Disney always asked his team to “ plus it ,” and we do too . Whether it ’ s letting our food get cold while we take the perfect picture or waiting till the wee hours to get the perfect shot on Main Street , U . S . A ., researching for days to get the facts straight or driving across the state to get an amazing interview , staying up late to chat with fans on social media or working 20-hour days at media events , adopting new tools and developing our behindthe-scenes processes to make sure everything runs smoothly for our team and seemlessly for our customers , we ’ re always up for the next challenge .
Now , with over 20 issues of our print edition ( and 86 of our digital edition !) under our belts , we ’ re looking forward to seeing what magic we can make over the next year as we celebrate Walt Disney World ’ s 50th anniversary and work toward our 100th issue . Thank you truly for all of your support of WDW Magazine — our readers mean the world to us !
