As any artist knows , if you want to make an object in a painting look taller or farther away , one method to do this is by making it darker within the composition . To make the American Adventure appear taller , John had the painters use four different shades of white , each one progressively darker , as they made their way to the attraction ’ s highest points . A perfect example of how a master animator applied his craft to theme park design .
