Walt Disney World has Monsters , Inc . Laugh Floor and Disney California Adventure is home to Monsters , Inc . Mike & Sulley to the Rescue !, but no Monsters , Inc . ride is as immersive and unique as Monsters , Inc . Ride & Go Seek ! at Tokyo Disneyland . This family-friendly , interactive dark ride based on the 2001 Pixar film invites guests to recall their inner child by playing “ Flashlight Tag ” through Monstropolis and the Monsters , Inc . factory .

When this ride opened on April 15 , 2009 , the 26th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort , it replaced the former Meet the World attraction in Tomorrowland . To celebrate the new ride ’ s opening later that summer , Tokyo Disneyland held a special event called Club Monsters , Inc . “ It ’ s Laughter We ' re After !”
INSIDE MONSTERS , INC . RIDE & GO SEEK ! To find Ride & Go Seek at Tokyo Disneyland , take a right inside the World Bazaar and head straight into Tomorrowland . Here , you ’ ll see the enormous scare factory with the words “ It ’ s Laughter We ' re After .” Once inside , you ’ ll feel instantly transported to the reception area of Monsters , Inc . All that ’ s missing is Schmoopsie Poo — er , Celia — and her charming ‘ do .
Before climbing into your security vehicle , listen to how the Cast Members greet you . There are a few ways to say hello in Japanese . In the afternoon , you ’ d say , “ Konnichiwa ,” and in the evening , “ Konbanwa .” Since the ride takes place in the evening , Cast Members always greet you with “ Konbanwa ” no matter the time of day .
HELP FIND BOO I won ’ t give away much of the ride ’ s storyline , though you can check out video footage if you don ’ t mind spoilers . Your adventure starts when Boo causes some trouble , which leads to mayhem as you make your way through Monstropolis . After joining a panicked Mike and Sulley , you ’ ll hurry through the scare floor and Monstropolis flashing your light on any helmets you see with the Monsters , Inc . “ M ” logo .
As you zip through the various areas , you ’ ll find different monsters , big and small . There are no triggers to pull or buttons to press ; simply shine your light on the “ M ” logo , and you ’ ll hear a satisfying ding followed by whatever unique event you have triggered .
It makes for an excellent spot for photos .
As you enter the reception area , you ’ ll hear Mike Wazowski explain how “ Flashlight Tag ” works . The game is simple : Grab your flashlight and shine it on every “ M ” symbol you see . If you shine your flashlight correctly , something fun will happen with the monster you found ! But this is all fun and games : There are no points to collect , unlike Buzz Lightyear ’ s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom .
After the reception area , you ’ ll head to the loading dock . Climb inside your security vehicle to begin your “ Flashlight Tag ” game !
THE RIDE VEHICLES If you ’ ve ridden Toy Story Mania !, the ride vehicles at Ride & Go Seek will feel familiar . For Ride & Go Seek , they ’ re themed as security vehicles that transport you around the scare factory and Monstropolis .

MONSTERS , INC . EASTER EGGS As you ’ re playing tag through Monstropolis , keep your eye ( pun intended ) out for some fun details .
Heads Up : If you ’ re over 6 feet tall , your knees may hit the front of the vehicle , which can make this 4-minute attraction a little less enjoyable .
In Boo ’ s room in the lower right corner , you can see a flashlight that looks like Nemo . Letter blocks in the same room spell out “ WDI ” for “ Walt Disney Imagineering .”
Another favorite is the clock in the locker room . No matter when you ride , you ’ ll find it ’ s set to 10:28 , marking the date of the film ’ s global premiere ( 10 / 28 / 2001 ).
Once you get to the end of the ride , before the Roz animatronic decides to roast you in Japanese , there ’ s a photo spot — make sure to pose ! You ’ re able to buy the photo once you exit the ride .

And like any good Disney attraction , Imagineers have planted some hidden Mickeys throughout the ride . I haven ’ t been able to find them myself , but former Imagineer Mark Schirmer promises they ’ re hiding somewhere .
