the emotions being vocalized for their puppets , including a worrisome Marlin and an always-giddy Dory . Other characters , meanwhile , like Nigel the pelican , were cut from the original musical to coincide with the shortened run time . The abbreviated musical , which starts with preshow edutainment about the ocean from “ Marine Life Explorers ” over the speakers , was orchestrated in part to help the show flow more effectively and concisely , and to provide more showtimes throughout the day , but also so families could have more time to explore the rest of the park . According to James Wilson , a Show Director with Disney
Live Entertainment , the new show is the “ perfect length to tell this story and share it with audiences with young families and young children ,” he said before a preview performance in 2022 . “ And it allows them , all of our guests , to go out into the park and experience the rest of the wonderful stuff here at Animal Kingdom .”
The musical is bookended by “ In The Big Blue World ,” a song that embodies the theme of overcoming danger and finding beauty , as Nemo goes off to school , and into the big blue world . It ’ s no easy task to translate a movie with a largerthan-life setting , and a theme that tugs
on multigenerational heartstrings , to a 25-minute stage production . But with a cast of performers whose costumes and choreography flow seamlessly with their characters , a stirring soundtrack that anyone can hum , and some digital enhancements designed to immerse families into a big blue world , Disney has dreamt up the ultimate showcase for one of its most beloved movies .
