Next door , guests can find Teamboat Springs , another attraction named as a parody of a real Colorado ski haven ( Steamboat Springs ). The slide appears recycled from a melting bobsled run . Passengers board large rafts and wind their way down a series of curves and slopes toward the base of the mountain along 1,200 feet of track . The park is full of other attractions like these , each one themed around converted ski resort attractions , including Toboggan Racers , Ski Patrol Training Camp , and Slush Gusher . In all cases , the design of the props , rockwork , and slides makes it feel like you are cascading down icy waterfalls of melting snow .
A SLOWER PACE Not all of the attractions at Disney ’ s Blizzard Beach are for thrill-seekers . The park offers plenty of experiences for those who prefer a more relaxing pace . Despite their laid-back vibes , these attractions still capture the spirit of a converted ski resort , thanks to Imagineers ’ attention to detail .
One of the best might be Cross Country Creek . This 3,000-foot-long lazy river circles the majority of Blizzard Beach , giving guests a view of the park ’ s slopes from every angle . The experience also journeys through a cave under Mount Gushmore and around the home of Ice Gator , who seems to be suffering from a cold as his sneezes shoot bursts of water out the chimney toward the river .
It ’ s not all thrill-seeking . Try a less death-defying waterslide , or kick back and float at Cross Country Creek .

SNOWGIES AT TIKE ’ S PEAK For a long time , young children have enjoyed a dedicated space at Blizzard Beach called Tike ’ s Peak ( named after Pikes Peak ). In late 2022 , Imagineers updated this area to feature some lovable characters from Frozen . While Ice Gator still appears in this section of the park , children can now splash around with Olaf and his Snowgie friends in the wading pool . Kids can also find a young Anna and Elsa building a snow fort along the water ’ s edge . These additions help keep the park relevant for Disney ’ s youngest guests while still playing into the icy theme of the park .
Disney ’ s Blizzard Beach demonstrates how a clever story and some Imagineering details can create a fun and playful experience for the whole family . As implausible as a ski resort in Central Florida might sound , that ’ s the magic of Imagineering : creating a sensational story that pulls you out of the real world and into a fantasy .
Even if that fantasy involves icy waterfalls in Orlando .
All that snow melts somewhere , right ? That makes the water a deliciously refreshing way to spend a lazy summer afternoon .
