MAKING DISNEY PRINCESS HISTORY You ’ re entering MGM Studios the year Beauty and the Beast was released . Parts of the film were even animated at MGM Studios .
On November 22nd , the day the movie was released in theatres , the Beauty and the Beast stage spectacular opened at MGM Studios . The simultaneous opening was a first for Disney .
The 1990s was a big decade for princess films with Aladdin , Pocahontas , Beauty and The Beast , and Mulan .
While you ’ re wandering through The Magic of Disney Animation attraction , keep your eyes peeled for swords , a dragon , or a cricket from Mulan , one of only three animated films produced primarily at MGM Studios .

Thirty years later , MGM Studios not only has a new name , but also towers , streets , and even lands that didn ’ t exist when the park opened . Here in 1991 , there is no terrifying tower or a Rock ‘ n ’ Roller Coaster at the end of Sunset Boulevard .
