Originally , French Quarter was known as Disney ’ s Port Orleans Resort when it opened in 1991 . Then Riverside , formerly known as Disney ’ s Dixie Landings Resort , opened separately in 1992 . In the spring of 2001 , both became one large resort and adopted their current names .
