Lunar New Year is an annual tradition within Chinese , Korean , and Vietnamese cultures celebrating the celestial journey of the sun and the moon toward another year . Disneyland ’ s Lunar New Year event , typically running from mid-January through early February , honors this celebration with festival food marketplace booths , themed entertainment , and special meet-and-greets .
I had the opportunity to attend Disneyland ’ s Lunar New Year last year , which ran from January 17 to February 9 , 2020 .
As of publication , Disney has not confirmed the re-opening of Disneyland Resort or the return of Disneyland ’ s Lunar New Year , due to COVID-19 restrictions .
FESTIVE FOODS In previous years , Disneyland ’ s Lunar New Year Celebration took place at California Adventure in the same area and style of festival marketplace booths guests commonly see during the holiday season and the popular Food & Wine Festival . Booths were typically spread out along the Disney California Adventure Performance Corridor leading up to Paradise Gardens and featured a wide variety of food and beverage options . Some hit favorites included the Firecracker Three Cup
Chicken Wings , Pork Belly Banh Mi , Bao Buns , and international beer choices .
When I ’ ve gone , I ’ ve noticed that these marketplace booths are extremely popular , which created long lines during peak lunch and dinner times . Using Mobile Order where it ’ s offered and eating outside of regular dining hours were good strategies to get snacks quickly .
TIP : You can order snacks from any booth , so if you see a long line at the booth you want to order from , head to any other festival booth and place your order there . You will then take your receipt to pick up the food from the specific booth where the food is prepared .
