2016 Walt Disney World Marathon | runDisney | Walt Disney World Video runDisney REGISTRATION Registration day can cause many fears as you usually have to make your decision several months in advance. Most registration windows open around 7-9 months prior to the actual race. Each race can, and will, sell out fairly quickly, so be sure to check runDisney.com for the dates. There are a few perks for those of you who are DVC and/or Annual Passholders. Both groups can register early for select runDisney races, which is a great option considering how fast some of the races sell out. COST Another important aspect of participating in a runDisney race that people often consider is COST! Casey is running the Princess Half Marathon in February and her registration for the Half Marathon itself was $185.00 before tax and fees. The 10k is $120.00, while the 5k is $75.00. You can also participate in what’s called the Glass Slipper Challenge, which is both the 10k and Half Marathon, for an overall cost of $320.00. All of the different runDisney races will have prices that are similar to the Princess Half Marathon. Runners can also choose to add-on additional events, including a race retreat and in-park pasta party, as well as commemorative merchandise, so be sure to include that in your budget if it’s something of interest to you. Race registrations, commemorative items, and fees for additional events are NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE, so keep that in mind when choosing to participate! You’ll also want to make sure that you factor travel costs into your budget—it’s not a requirement to stay on Disney property to participate in a runDisney event, but it does add a great level of convenience with the race transportation being provided for that early morning drop off! Plus the extra magic doesn’t hurt either! It’s important to note that not all Disney resorts offer transportation to the start/finish line, so be sure to check with your preferred resort before booking.
