As you approach Launch Bay, you can veer to the right to skip the rest of the offerings and
head straight to the shop, or take a stroll through the gallery and meet some characters
first—but either way, no journey is complete without visiting the gift shop. As you’ve probably
guessed by now, the theme of Launch Bay Cargo is all Star Wars, all the time. There is a wide
range of souvenirs—from park merchandise, clothing, and pins, to limited edition collectibles,
life size sculptures, and movie prop replicas, there is definitely something here to suit every
age and every budget.
The Cast Members are great at Launch Bay Cargo (who wouldn’t be in a good mood playing
with Star Wars toys all day?), and are usually seen having fun with the light sabers—which they
generously loaned us for a great photo op—or entertaining guests with the remote controlled
BB-8 and R2D2 droids that always seem to be roaming around the store. In addition to the
Star Wars merchandise, Launch Bay Cargo also has a D-Tech on Demand station. You’ve
probably seen these in various locations around the parks and at Disney Springs, but in case
you don’t know, D-Tech lets you pick and customize designs that are printed on Demand for
a variety of products like magic bands and cell phone cases. You make your selection and
customization through a simple touchscreen interface, and then can watch as your
personalized souvenir is printed in the store.
