Dapper Dans WDW Magazine Click Here For Video Actually that really happened to one of our photographers, Brett Svenson (Disney Photo Snapper). Check out his cool video. The guys in the gaudy pinstriped vests are the Dapper Dans. The Dapper Dans are a group that performs on Main Street several times throughout the day, every day. Disney says they sing a mix of American, along with Disney show tunes, and add in a little “forgettable vaudeville humor”—Pinstripes and Puns, that’s what it says on the Disney website. They are a Barbershop Quartet. Barbershop is a brand of music that comes from the late 1800s and early 1900s. It’s known for combining a capella harmony and humor together. The Dapper Dans perform a mix of Disney show tunes and classic Barbershop songs. Sometimes they combine an instrument called Deagan Organ Chimes into their show as well. Deagan Organ Chimes are basically bells that play a single note. It’s pretty cool to hear how they work. They typically preform either over by the Barbershop (hence the name Barbershop Quartet) or in front of the middle section of The Emporium (about half way down Main Street.) Times and locations will be on the daily park map, or in the My Disney Experience app. The Dapper Dans have been at Walt Disney World since October 1, 1971. That’s right, they are part of the very founding of WDW. The Dapper Dans are one of the little things that make Walt Disney World special. Be sure to check them out the next time you are in the Magic Kingdom!
