WDW Magazine December 2014 - Crowds at WDW | Page 107

Photo by Judd Helms In Disneyland, the Goodbye room features two dimensional international postcards, and in WDW you’ll see flowers with stylized text for “goodbye” in a variety of languages. All in all, the ride is about 15 minutes in length in either park. Features While both the Disneyland and WDW attractions are very similar, there are some major differences, with Disneyland having a number of features that set it apart (and in my opinion, above) the WDW version. While in WDW the queue and loading area is indoors (a good idea given Florida weather), in Disneyland guests load in the middle of a beautiful topiary garden outside of the attraction. The exterior façade in California allowed for The Magic, The Memories, and You to be projected on It’s a Small World instead of on Sleeping Beauty Castle. The same show was projected on Cinderella Castle at WDW, and was the precursor to Celebrate the Magic. Disneyland also features a very popular Christmas overlay in November and December, called It’s a Small World Holiday. The dolls sing Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells instead of their usual song, the ride is converted with loads of holiday decorations, and the exterior façade is all lit up with thousands of twinkle lights.
