In 2007 , EPCOT ’ s World Showcase welcomed a major change . In the Mexico Pavilion , Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros opened on April 6 , making it the first World Showcase attraction that featured Disney characters from an existing IP . The ride replaced the previous occupant of the space , El Rio del Tiempo . This iteration is also a boat ride , one that takes guests on a musical journey alongside Panchito Pistoles , José Carioca , and Donald Duck .
APRIL 7 , 2006
On this date , Disney opened what was perhaps its most innovative ride at the time : Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain . The roller coaster takes guests through the Himalayan Mountains via train cars , where they meet a mysterious Yeti . At the time of its opening , the ride offered the largest and most complex Audio-Animatronic ever built by Walt Disney Imagineering : a Yeti that measures 25 feet tall .

In the midst of Downtown Disney ’ s transformation into what is now known as Disney Springs , the area welcomed a new restaurant on this date . The BOATHOUSE Restaurant is located in The Landing , offering delicious waterfront dining . The location also offers an immersive experience with the BOATHOUSE Amphicars , which launch from land and take guests into the water for a ride .
APRIL 28 , 1997
When Walt Disney World first opened , Cinderella Castle was home to King Stefan ’ s Banquet Hall . Named for King Stefan , one of the kings in Sleeping Beauty , the choice was controversial considering its location in Cinderella Castle . On April 28 , 1997 , Disney appropriately renamed the eatery Cinderella ’ s Royal Table .
