The ascent is gradual , though a little bumpy at takeoff .
After purchasing your tickets , you ’ ll line up and wait to board on a large , spacious platform . The nerves might start to kick in here , but it ’ s all part of the experience . Once inside the basket , you ’ ll stand on the outer rim , which ensures everyone gets a good outward view . And don ’ t worry about falling : There are rails and then netting all around the basket to keep you safe .
The ascent to 400 feet is gradual and mostly smooth , but I felt a noticeable bump at the beginning . The pilot recommended that everyone hold onto the handrail that goes all around the basket . When we reached a higher altitude , the balloon started to rotate slightly so everyone could get a different view , but you can also exchange standing spots with other guests to make sure you see it all . Do be careful as you move about ; on windy days , there is still some drifting up in the sky .
The views from 400 feet were spectacular ! I had no idea just how wide Disney Springs spread from corner to corner ; seeing it from above gives you an entirely new perspective . And not only can you see all of Disney Springs , but you can also see nearby resorts and the stunning green wetlands of the area . It was clear enough that I was able to see EPCOT .
I also learned while flying that the Aerophile offers wedding packages . If you and your significant other want a unique way to tie the knot at Walt Disney World , there ’ s certainly no other spot with this perspective . I ’ d mention it to my husband for a vow renewal , but he ’ s terrified of heights — that ’ s why I did this flight solo !
