WE HAVE WALT DISNEY TO THANK Did you know that the WDW connection to topiaries extends all the way back to the man himself , Walt Disney ? Darden told AllEars . net in 2017 that Walt found inspiration for character topiaries when visiting the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen , Denmark .
“ He came back and told [ horticulturist ] Bill Evans that he wanted to see his characters in topiary ,” Darden dished to AllEars . Evans and his brother actually helped Walt landscape his home in Los Angeles . “ So when it came time to build Disneyland , it was just natural that Walt called Bill

and said , ‘ I have this new project that I want you to work on .’”
And look at EPCOT now . We have an entire festival dedicated to the topiaries . Like Darden said in 2017 , “ We ’ re making topiaries , but what we ’ re really making are individual pieces of Disney artwork .” He can say that again .
The topiaries , global gardens , and other floral arrangements are a big reason that so many guests visit the festival .
There aren ’ t any new topiaries this year , but the newest is Remy from Ratatouille , which debuted in 2020 . Standing upon a wheel of cheese , he serves up a big helping of cuteness .
In my opinion , you ’ ll want to make time to see Remy , Belle and the Beast , the Butterflies , the entrance topiaries ( Spaceship Earth makes them even more stunning ), and Kermit and Miss Piggy .
Flower & Garden runs through July 5 this year , so you have plenty of time to experience the topiaries for yourself — and take all of the photos .
