PHOTO BY WAYNE WOOD The grey concrete walkways are the main routes from the waterside area through to the parking lots - so follow these paths if you’re lost. The leaf imprints in the concrete were created by placing real leaves into the wet concrete. As soon as the concrete set, the leaves were removed. PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTERS The lobby, at Port Orleans French Quarters - also known as Port Orleans Mint, is themed after the inside of a commercial bank of the 1800’s. The musical staff notes shown across the registration desk represent the first verse of “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Mardi Gras specialists Blaine Kern Artists Inc., were responsible for collecting and creating the special prop items - some of which were purchased directly from Mardi Gras warehouses in New Orleans. The colorful jester figures located inside the food court and outside near the Doubloon Lagoon pool are very closely based on the actual figure found next to the Canal Street / Algiers Ferry terminal in New Orleans.
