Ready for an encore
The only thing missing from Peaster’ s 2025 season was a camera crew to follow them around and produce the next rendition of“ Friday Night Lights.”
A small 3A school on the outskirts of DFW with one playoff win to its football name and empty seats in the stands became one of the best Texas high school football stories of the season.
Prior to the Greyhounds’ run, lineman Chase Aleksick was approached by members of the community and was asked if the team would make the playoffs.
Later that year, those same members and nearly the entire town filled Crowley ISD Stadium to witness Peaster’ s first trip to the state semifinals versus Grandview.
“ It was truly special. It’ s a feeling you don’ t get outside of high school football,” said quarterback Luke Gray about playing in front of 8,000 people.
In a hard-fought battle between two of the best 3A Div. I teams in the state, the Greyhounds fell short by three points after a fourth-down conversion by Grandview in the final moments, bringing an end to the magical season.

For head coach Trevor Owens and all his players, the loss sucked in the moment. The anxiety hit the Greyhound coach because he thought they may never have the opportunity to reach that stage in his career again, but he quickly veered his attention to the positive side and reflected on how far the program has come in his three years.
