Widowed at 30, Dong went to South China
to find work, and initiated as a saleswoman
at Gree Electric. Her balance of hard work
and her diligence paid off as she was elected
director of the sales department in 1994.
She became president in 2001, and since
then Gree Electric has become the world’s
largest specialized air conditioner company.
Under her current leadership, Gree Electric
is developing new technology, helping
Chinese manufacturing evolve from “made
in China” to “created in China.”In 2013,
she was named one a Forbes Asia “Woman
in the Mix” for business. The New York
Times declared her “one of the toughest
businesswomen in China. She has published
two books, including an autobiography titled
“Regretless Pursuit “ which was a bestseller
in China . The book was also made into a
television series on China Central Television.
Ekta Kapoor is an Indian TV and film producer. She is the
Joint Managing Director and Creative Director of Balaji
Telefilms. Known as the Queen of Soap Operas in India,
Ekta is remembered best for giving television entertainment
the most cataclysmic turn ever. Her serials were aired on
Sony, Star Plus and Zee. 2010 and 2011 was pivotal for her
career in Bollywood. She delivered the biggest and the most
important films like ‘Love, Sex aur Dhoka’, ‘Once Upon a Time
in Mumbai’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Ragini MMS’ and the sequel
of her earlier hit ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ named ‘Kya Super Kool
Hai Hum’. Ekta is an example of a woman for young creative
heads and entrepreneurs. She single handedly has earned her
stature in the industry, be it television or cinema. And keeping
all criticisms about her work aside, she has given television a
stature that no one else before her could.
