Letter from the Director

Fall 2023
Thank you to all of our community members who participated in our summer reading program , “ All Together Now ”. It was a wonderful summer full of fellowship , community , and kindness ; I can think of no better place than the library to explore these themes ! It ’ s that time of the year where kids are headed back to school and the events for community members start to ramp back up . We are excited to add on to the fall festivities with our events and services as well .
Our library has made an array of developments and changes that we would like to share with the community . When Andrew Carnegie first contributed to creating libraries across the nation , he made it a point to have a staircase of knowledge that led up to each of his libraries . As many of you know , our library had to close off our staircase several decades ago due to dilapidation . It is my privilege to announce that the stairs are closing in on its renovation and will be open for use yet again . We have also made several additions to our Main location , with a new computer lab , as well as a programming room . Additionally , we are excited to offer a new “ Library of Things ” service to our patrons . This new service will allow patrons to check out materials and equipment such as cake pans , cookie cutters , instruments , sensory kits , yard games , and more !
It has been a mission for my staff and myself to serve not only the towns that have a library , but to all of Williams County . That ’ s why you ’ ve seen our Outreach Manager Loni out and about at places such as Nettle Lake with our pop-up library . Our services are for everyone to enjoy and utilize ! We look forward to continuing our services in our underserved areas of the county .
On September 23 rd , in conjunction with Fall Fest , we will be hosting our fourth annual Fandemonium . This family friendly event is a pop culture influenced showcase of local and regional artists , authors , vendors , and more ! There will be a costume contest and prizes , and we can ’ t wait to see you there . We are also looking forward to our historic cemetery tour , now in its seventh year . This will be ran by our programming manager , Denver Henderson , on October 21 st at the Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan .
Thank you all for your support , and we here at WCPL are excited to usher in a new era of library service .
See you at the library , Dylan Wagner WCPL Interim Director
