Kind of Blue is regarded by many critics as Miles Davis ' s masterpiece . The tale of how the album was created in 1959 is the story of how an American genius created a work of art . Join WCPL Programming Manager and devoted jazz fan Denver Henderson as he delves into the history of this great piece of art .

Enjoy an evening of artistic expression & competition as area poets perform in front of a panel of judges and a live audience , with prizes being awarded to the winning artists ! Monk at Palo Alto : Finding a Lost Recording , April 26th , 6:00PM , LOCAL HISTORY CENTER
A student booked the jazz great at Palo Alto High School in 1968 . A recording of the event gathered dust for 52 years . Join Denver Henderson as he delves into the story of this found recording , which includes a tale of racial unrest , ambition , a struggling genius , a school janitor , and the music lost for over 5 decades .
