WEST UNITY BRANCH
Many exciting things happened in 2025 at the West Unity Branch Library!
Each month we had patrons fill our display cases with their collections consisting of paintings, drawings, Legos, crafts, puzzles, elephants, guessing vintage items, model WWII planes, and owls. It was great to see the collections, and continue to fill the display each month with items.
Our kids sewing class is getting very popular. Attendees enjoy learning about sewing, and feel good about their finished projects. Kids painting classes are also getting so popular that most months we offer two classes to around 15 participants each. Spots fill up fast!
We have been trying to get more teens into the library, so we added a Teen Night with activities like board games, discussing books, snacks and playing the Nintendo Switch. It has grown in attendance.
We hosted our first Diamond Art event that was very successful and had patrons wanting more. We offered bigger diamond art pictures to do in the summer where attendees could come back each week until they were finished with their project. We also had small sticker diamond art sheets for the kids. They loved them.
For Summer Reading, the library held many activities such as tie-dyeing shirts, making slime and friendship bracelets, rock painting, and sand art. For special events we had Exotic Zoo, Jim Basketball Jones, Indiana Wild, Professor Tony, Magic Man Rusty, Science Central, 4-H Camp Palmer, a PJ party, a Library Lock-In, Splatter Day, and a Closing Party featuring a water slide and drivable F. O. A. K( furry oversized animal karts).
In September we held a tree ceremony for our former branch manager Ruth Meyer. Ruth was instrumental in starting our kid’ s Garden Club. The tree was donated to the Friends of the West Unity Library by Tina Baker.
Our NOON Year’ s Eve Party had many children, adults, and teens in attendance. They danced, had snacks and partied. When the clock struck 12pm the kids used their noise makers to celebrate the New Year!
The library was busy with community members utilizing our programs and connecting with others. We are looking forward to more and exciting events and programs for our patrons.
