MONITOR
WCIT Secret Airfield Visit
O
n May 11th a number of WCIT members paid a visit to
the Secret Airfield, in the grounds of the home of
Merlin, The Earl of Erroll. From here hundreds of flights
were made over occupied Europe to deliver (by parachute) the
SOE agents and their equipment. The RAF also flew Lysanders
into France to collect agents from makeshift landing-grounds.
Within the airfield there is a museum showcasing the many
courageous agents who carried out these hazardous missions and
the visit was highlighted by a wonderful lunch provided by the
Countess of Erroll (a cordon bleu chef). We hope to arrange
another visit in 2014, so if you’re interested please contact the
