WAYS Meeting 1
Minutes 21/1/14
1. Logo
• A consensus was reached concerning the logo.
• Moogie will create a poll to confirm all members’ opinions on the logo,
• Decided the name has to be clearly written.
2. Fundraising and regular meetings
• Clare had previously consulted a lawyer. For an organisation like WAYS, it was
revealed insurance would cost about $1000 per annum.
• Alex N suggested that WAYS becomes affiliated with one of the University Guilds.
They would provide a venue for meetings, insurance and funding for things such
as food. Alex N volunteered to look into it at UWA.
• Concerns about this suggestion were that WAYS may be dominated by one
institution.
• Patrick suggested that meetings could be held after social events.
3. Magazine
• It was discussed that the magazine could include information on past and
upcoming events, recent scientific discoveries and achievements of WAYS
members.
• People interested in being Scribes for the magazine were asked to contact Clare
or Moogie.
• Patrick, Sarah and Alex provided tips for university for other members. It was
suggested that this could be one of the things included in the magazine.
4. Other Notes
• Kelly brought to the fore that she had information that PIXAR may be running
workshops in Perth and may be looking for volunteers.
• Sarah suggested that online Facebook events should have confirmation dates to
get better ideas of numbers.
• Amelia suggested that one of the requirements of events could be to bring two
other friends as a means of recruitment.
• Clare and Moogie, with help from Patrick, summarised Purpose Driven
Campaigning (PDC) and its benefits in an organisation like WAYS.
