Renee Faris FOOD AND FRIENDSHIP Wayne BAKERS’ CAREERS ARE ON THE RISE Is there something about Wayne that breeds great bakers? RENEE FARIS continues to win kudos for her baking skills at Erie Coffee Shop & Bakery in Rutherford, where she whips up delights such as banana pecan chocolate bread pudding, strawberry rhubarb almond tarts, savory quiches and the shop’s fabled mini olive oil Risa Magid Boyer citrus bundt cake. And eight miles west, Wayne native (and current Boonton resident) RISA MAGID BOYER concocts her beloved chocolate and vanilla “Charcuterie” boards, “dessert tapas,” crostinis and spicy hot chocolate at Vanillamore Dessert Kitchen in Montclair. Fortunately, they’re both a short driving distance from the town where they grew up. • Erie Coffee Shop & Bakery: 10 Franklin Place, (201) 460-0073, eatdrinkerie.com; Vanillamore Dessert Kitchen: 349 Bloomfield Ave., (973) 707-5373, vanillamore.com MARCH 21 12:30& 7 P.M.
