ERNESTA PARISI, DMD Dr. Ernesta Parisi, a lifelong resident of Wayne, NJ, knew from an early age that she would someday be a doctor. It wasn’t until college that she discovered the wonderful profession of dentistry. She graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Biology and received her doctoral degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (formerly UMDNJ). What makes Dr. Parisi unique is that, in addition to her degree in dentistry, she pursued her passion for both medicine and dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania where she completed a Fellowship in Oral Medicine. This area of dentistry focuses on the diagnosis and management of disorders affecting the mouth and facial regions and on the dental management of medically complex patients. Dr. Parisi became a n Assistant Professor at Rutgers Dental School, where she taught for almost 5 years. During that time, she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine in 2004. She turned to general dentistry and began her own practice in Totowa in 2009 after deciding it was a more satisfying fit with family life. She now treats adults and children, and very often entire families. She offers a full range of dental procedures including cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, restorative dentures, extractions, veneers, implants and preventive care. She integrates her Oral Medicine background with general dentistry. Dr. Parisi explains that she approaches patients from a diagnostic perspective. This means she seeks to determine the underlying cause of a patient’s complaint, rather than simply just fixing the problem for the moment. Patients appreciate the effort Dr. Parisi and her staff put into their overall care. They diagnose the problem, educate patients about the cause, and find a solution that works best for them. What is most rewarding to the dentist is making her patients happy with their smiles and improving the health of their mouth. “We are a caring group of people who want patients to be comfortable,” she says. The comfort extends to those who are facing financial difficulties. Dr. Parisi works with patients to develop manageable payment plans. Dr. Parisi is a member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Passaic County Dental Association and the American Academy of Oral Medicine.
