A resident of Pequannock, Chuy grew up in Wayne and chose to locate her fast-growing online business in Packanack Lake. According to Chuy, Dazzle Candy Boutique utilizes the latest way of shopping. New clothing, accessories and children’s items are highlighted and updated on the store’s Instagram and Facebook accounts, and customers can call the store to order things they’ve seen online. Items are already bagged and paid for when purchases are picked up at the shop. Some jewelry and accessories can be personalized or customized for fundraisers. A SANDWICH FOR SAFETY FIREHOUSE SUBS Established by two firefighter brothers 20 years ago, the Firehouse Subs franchise serves up sandwiches, salads and support to communities and their local public safety organizations. Owner and area representative Ever Santana of Pompton Plains and owner Jim Fabris of Franklin Lakes bring this charitable eatery to the area with two new locations: FIREHOUSE SUBS OF TOTOWA (205 Route 46 West, Totowa, 973-837-8022) and FIREHOUSE SUBS OF WAYNE (1050 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, 973-832-4850). On the menu are hearty, over-sized hot and cold subs, including the popular Hook and Ladder (Smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham, and melted Monterey Jack, served with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and a dill pickle). Firehouse Subs also prepares catering platters. Restaurant décor includes firefighter gear, historic photos and hand-painted murals dedicated to local heroes. The Totowa restaurant mural features Totowa firefighters extinguishing the historical Markowitz industrial fire that occurred in 1980. The Wayne mural honors fallen firefighters Bill Klein and Glenn Galderisi from Pompton Falls Volunteer Fire Department. No. 3, and Jeff Raven and Gregg Froehner from Preakness Volunteer Fire Company No. 4. According to marketing manager Heather Nelson, “The heart of Firehouse Subs is our Public Safety Foundation, which is fueled by donations made by customers to provide emergency service personnel with life-saving equipment, fire safety prevention education to the public, disaster relief and financial resources to individuals pursuing careers in public safety.” Local fire departments can apply for foundation grants at www.firehousesubs.com. 14 WAYNE MAGAZINE SPRING 2015 DAZZLE CANDY & RED MANGO: ANNE-MAIRE CARUSO; FIREHOUSE SUBS: COURTESY OF FIREHOUSE SUBS OF TOTOWA AND WAYNE BE DAZZLED Riverdale’s RED MANGO (92 Route 23 North, 862-248-0606, www.redmangousa.com) is the first Red Mango in New Jersey built with a café concept according to owner Sunny Shakhawala. “Our store has self-serve frozen yogurt, juice, smoothies and café items such as flatbreads, salads, wraps, coffee/teas, pastries and meal replacement/supplement bars,” he says.
