BROOKLYN DUMPLING SHOP COMES TO WILLOWBROOK MALL
BROOKLYN DUMPLING SHOP , a dumpling Automat concept launched two years ago in the East Village of New York City , will have anew franchise in Willowbrook Mall later this year . Other franchises are planned for Hoboken and Montclair , according to Brooklyn Dumpling ’ s website .
Not familiar with the automat concept ? It was popular in the ’ 30s until the ’ 90s , and seems perfect for our ongoing pandemic situation . In this updated version , you order your food ahead of time on an app or in real-time atakiosk , and when your order is ready , you get notified and find it in one of the shop ’ s temperaturecontrolled food lockers . The dumplings come in a variety of flavors including Philly cheesesteak , bacon cheeseburger , and peanut butter and jelly . There are dessert dumplings such as caramel apple , and vegetarian ones , including Asian Veggie and Impossible Burger .

STUDENT HONOR ROLL IS BACK
WAYNE STUDENTS who earn high marks on their report cards are being acknowledged on an honor roll for the first time in years , after a proud mother raised the issue with school officials . Danielle Peano says she wanted her son , Vincent , to get credit for the straight A ’ s he has been pulling in his sixth-grade classes at Anthony Wayne Middle School . The K-12 district stopped producing an honor roll in the 2008-2009 school year when it went to a computer-based system for reporting grades , says superintendent Mark Toback . But the district was still supposed to generate an honor roll , per a school board policy and regulation enacted in October 2009 . Toback says an honor roll will be created at the end of the school year and then posted to the district ’ s website .

RACHEL ZEGLER MAKES THE AWARDS CEREMONY ROUNDS
In one short week , West Side Story star and local fan favorite RACHEL ZEGLER went from not being invited to the Academy Awards , to being apresenter , to singing in a Stephen Sondheim tribute at the Grammys . On March 27 , Zegler , who was raised in Clifton , co-presented the award for Best Visual Effects with Euphoria and Deep Water star Jacob Elordi . “ I never thought I would be here … six days ago ,” she joked , referring to her last-minute invitation . The following Sunday , Zegler , Cynthia Erivo , Leslie Odom Jr . and Ben Platt sang a tribute to Sondheim , the iconic musical theater composer who died on November 26 .
