Paul Smith, history teacher and head coach for girls’ varsity fencing at
Pompton Lakes High School believes that a focus on team lends itself to
individual success as well. Smith, who is also a JV softball coach, says,
“I love all sports, but fencing is unique and challenging.”
This year’s team of 16 members (varsity and JV) allowed for greater team
dynamics and gave younger fencers valuable experience in the sport.
