That’s why Chilton Medical Center is committed to providing compassionate, state-of-the-art pediatric care that is designed with children’s specialized needs in mind. artist renderings: Chilton MediCal Center; Coree Betron: John eMerson E arlier this year, Chilton announced plans for a new Children’s Center, which will centralize all of the hospital’s pediatric services while transforming its model of care. Chilton is dedicating an entire facility to its most precious patients: one that combines the Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric Inpatient Unit within a modernized, child-friendly space. Representing a unique and progressive approach, the new Children’s Center at Chilton will be the first of its kind in northern New Jersey. It’s also the only Center in the region with seamless access to Goryeb Children’s Hospital at Morristown Medical Center. According to Phillip Devadan, MD, of Chilton’s Pediatric Emergency Department (ED), this center will promote continuity of care for children, as well as healing and recovery. Whether they’re discharged from the ED in a single day or admitted for a lengthy stay, children will be treated by the same team of pediatric experts, including board-certified pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, and nurses who are specifically trained in pediatric care. Furthermore, Chilton’s littlest patients will be comforted by a Champions for Children Chilton Medical Center is proud to pay tribute to its very first Child Champion, Coree Betron of Wayne, who represents the more than 13,000 children Coree Betron treated at Chilton each year. In this new role, Betron, a 17-year-old Wayne Valley High School junior, will serve as a spokesperson for Chilton’s new state-of-the-art Children’s Center, as well as the fund drive currently underway to raise $500,000 toward this $4 million project. As part of the expansion, the Children’s Center will also expand its Creative Arts Therapy program along with Child Life Specialists who are dedicated to enriching the hospital experience for children and their families.
