In this photo , taken in November 2004 , Norma Bittar of Wayne does some
early Christmas shopping . Fortunoff in Wayne is just amemory now , but until itclosed its Willowbrook location , it was ago-to destination for holiday decorations . The company , which opened its flagship store in Westbury , Long Island , in 1964 , also operated stores in White Plains , New York , and Woodbridge , New Jersey , as well as specialty shops inother locations . In February 2009 , the chain went bankrupt . Today , not far from its former Willowbrook location , its legacy continues at one ofits branded backyard stores — where shoppers can find awide variety of Christmas lights , ornaments and other holiday decorations .
