T
rying to figure out the
best cakes and pastries
to bring to dinner this
holiday season? These
local bakeries are stocked with
everything you need to find the
perfect dessert.
For seven years, Sugar Spoon Cakery has
prided itself on the neatness of their cakes’
designs and ensuring there’s just the right
amount of sweetness to suit the
most sensitive palate. “The cake
looks perfect, and tastes perfect,
too,” says Lovina Shahid, Sugar
Spoon Cakery owner and chef.
Shahid’s attention to detail
shines through during the
holiday season, when she’s
whipping up batches of fruit-
cakes, red velvet cakes and
pumpkin cakes. But it’s also
apparent in the classic drip
cake she bakes for a 30th
birthday and the jungle-
themed cake perfect for
a child’s first birthday.
Small, one tier cakes begin
around $60, while a wedding
cake may go for $700. Sugar
Spoon Cakery does not have
a physical store front; orders
are placed by email and
phone. • sugarspooncakes@
