HOLIDAY DINNERS, PAST AND PRESENT
(Top) At Christmastime, the adults are seated at the dining room table,
while extra tables are set out to accommodate the younger generation.
The homeowners display pieces of Lenox china, which the wife’s mother
gave her as gifts every Christmas, in closets originally purchased for a former
home. Recessed lighting complements the illumination of the chandelier,
which extends from the ceiling medallion. (Inset) Seasonal Surroundings
provided the wreath on the mirror, under which figurines of carolers stand
witness. In the living room (above), the family gathers around the piano, some
with guitars in hand, and all join to sing Christmas carols. (Left) The shadow
box on the living room mantel belonged to the wife’s grandmother, and is a
refinished antique; the figures contained in it all belonged to the grandmoth-
er. The trumpeting angels maintain their places on the mantel all year. ■
