PETER SPICER, alifelong resident of Wayne, founded his Dumbass Whiskey company last year in Pompton Plains, and recently launched his business in the New York and Connecticut markets. Spicer makes whiskey in fiveflavors, as well as abourbon and arye.“ My flavored whiskey is great for cooking with,” Spicer says.“ And my butterscotch whiskey works very well in the fall and winter months. I make a really nice hot toddy with my honey whiskey.” An apple whiskey is also in the works. A number of Bergen and Passaic County stores carry Spicer’ s brand, which is easily recognizable from its cartoony-homespun labels.
