OUR TOWN | POMPTON LAKES
COMPILED BY CAROL BOTT JARGER
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
(219 Wanaque Ave., Pompton Lakes,
973-835-7714) has been the favorite
place for coaches and players in all
sports at all levels of play. Owner
Steve Columbo says, “We’re soup to
nuts for team business, and can satisfy any coach’s complete team needs.
We fit players for uniforms, sell
equipment they need, and at the
end of the season get them trophies,
plaques and awards,” making this a
one-stop shopping experience.
Sports enthusiasts will find equipment for football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, field hockey, soccer,
baseball, lacrosse, and cheerlead ing.
“We probably have more equipment per sport than a lot of big
stores and knowledge of those
items,” Columbo says.
PIPELINE CELTIC THEMES
THE LURE OF CELTIC STYLE
Owners Laura and Gerry Rooney of
PIPELINE CELTIC THEMES (128 Wanaque
Ave, Pompton Lakes, 973-839-4761, pipelinebagpipes.com ) have attracted pipers from far
and wide. Bagpipe lessons and workshops will
help perfect your chops, while kilt rentals will make
sure you look the part.
The Rooneys travel often to Scotland, Nova
Scotia, and Ireland to bring back selections of kilts
and jackets, and everything you need to go with it
including kilt pins, cap badges, belts and buckles,
knives, and rain gear. A selection of authentic
Irish woolen sweaters, gloves and mittens, caps
and woolen capes are offered for men and
women. Children’s clothing includes small
tartan items like jackets, robes, and pants as
well as Irish sweaters.
A full gift shop offers fine gifts, as well
as jewelry and fragrances. “We also bring
in Irish and Scottish foods like soda
bread and sausages,” Laura says.
