DRAMATIC DINING
The windows in the spacious kitchen
continue the lakeside vista, and a vinyl
banquette faces the water. Connecting
it to the island allows for maximum free
space, says DeLeon. The countertops
and the slab atop the island are sealed
concrete; the latter contains DeLeon’s
design of natural geodes, which have
been shaved thin, embedded in the sur-
face and lit from below by LED lights. The
deep drawers on both sides of the island
allow for ample storage; ash wood veneer
paneling and reflective white glass on
the refrigerator brighten the space.
Inset: The formal dining room’s wine
room is maintained at a lower tempera-
ture, and has room for more than 100
bottles. The Italian chain chandelier is
imported; artist Peter Lik composed
the photography.
