CORNER e e f o C f coffee Four great places to grab a cup (or two) WRITTEN BY CINDY SCHWEICH HANDLER PHOTOGRAPHY BY DANIELLE PARHIZKARAN Wayne Kinnelon Totowa Nestled in a strip mall in the Mountain View section of Wayne, Haylee’s is open seven days a week, and till midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings. Customers are welcome to work on their laptops, or sit on a couch and play one of the board games available in the cozy shop. There’s cappuccinos, espressos, lattes and other coffee drinks, of course, but also smoothies, homemade pastries such as flourless chocolate cake and a variety of crepes, including spinach and strawberry Nutella, to go along with them. • 127 Mountainview Blvd, (973) 706-8852, hayleescoffee.business.site You may think that you want a straight-up regular coffee at Longfellow’s, but there are so many coffee-related temptations available, don’t be surprised if you walk out with a Cocoa-Nut (warm coconut latte with coconut flakes and cocoa powder) or a Dark Side of the Moon (frozen charcoal licorice latte). This place is for discriminating coffee-drinkers, too, offering “single origin roasts,” the higher-end equivalent of a single malt scotch. Fruit smoothies, baked goods, burritos and sand- wich wraps are for sale, too; a variety of select coffees (dark and medium roast) and teas (pomegranate oolong, organic green) may be ordered from Longfellow’s website. • 2 Kiel Ave., (973) 283-1551, Longfellowscoffee.com The diner-length menu is mighty comprehen- sive at Kafe Neo, especially if you’re big on brunch. It includes waffles, cereal and yogurt, sweet potato toast, omelets, crepes, salads, burgers, wraps and dinner entrees. But in between breakfast and lunch listings, you’ll find a long beverage list with iced and hot coffees, including tiramisu latte, kafe mocha and Greek coffee. • 650 Union Blvd., (973) 925-4441, thecafeneo.com HAYLEE’S COFFEE HOUSE 22 FALL 2018 WAYNE MAGAZINE LONGFELLOW’S COFFEE KAFE NEO HAYLEE’S: A lot of us joke that we can’t live without coffee (including yours truly). But according to the Harvard School of Public Health, drinking coffee regularly may actually help you live longer. Studies show that it can decrease your risk of heart disease, stroke, gallstones, Parkinson’s Disease and type 2 diabetes. So, you can feel even better about getting that morning boost and afternoon pick-me-up. Here are some local destinations where you can grab a cup of Joe, and often linger a while as you enjoy it.
