including several veal and chicken selections. Chicken Scarpariello features a juicy chicken breast topped with slices of Italian sausage, cherry and red bell peppers in a flavorful white wine sauce. Seafood selections offered on the regular menu include a fine grilled filet of Norwegian salmon, served in a puddle of honey mustard sauce. Like many entrees, it comes with tender julienned fresh vegetables, but don’ t skimp on the traditional steakhouse sides of hash browns and creamed spinach; both are excellent, and large enough to share.
Some desserts are made in-house, including warm apple strudel in a flaky crust; light and airy tiramisu; and sweettart key lime pie. Service on a busy evening was excellent, attentive and knowledgeable. Our charming waiter regaled us with entertaining tales when encouraged, but provided unobtrusive white glove service, along with several assistants, when we were chatting amongst ourselves. Such experienced professionalism is a rarity in many small-town restaurants, and truly enhanced our overall experience at Black Bull. ■
