MAN CAVE FIT
FOR AN EMPEROR
Faced with an empty study, Barbieri
built up from the light-colored area
rug, and chose a chair and leather
sofas that suggested a more mascu-
line sensibility. “We had to accom-
modate a lot of needs here,” she says.
“It’s a place for watching TV, serving
drinks and doing office work, because
the homeowner has his own busi-
ness.” The traditional desk is off-set
by the iron console, glass and silver
coffee table and industrial-style light
fixtures. A fun mix of decorative
touches add interest, including the
wall tapestry, the reproductions of
ancient Greek helmets above the TV
unit, the wall clock from Ballard
Designs, throws and pillows from
Pottery Barn and, yes, the suit of
armor procured after a google search.
